Okay, so Los Angeles itself may not be appealing on its own, but there is plenty of stuff to do in the surrounding areas as well. From Los Angeles, you can drive to any number of beaches, including Santa Monica and the Santa Monica pier, as well as Venice Beach. You can also visit the Los Angeles zoo.
There is quite a bit of stuff to do in Hollywood, which is not too far away from LA. In Hollywood you can visit the Universal Studios Hollywood and Backlot. You can take a tour of the Studio Lot and see where some of your favorite movies and TV shows have been filmed. But there are also rides like The Mummy’s Revenge that you can go to for thrills and chills. Also in Hollywood you can visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame to see the stars of people such as Michael Jackson, The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny, and Johnny Depp. Also while in Hollywood you can get a picture of the infamous Hollywood sign. You can visit Grauman’s Chinese Theater, and see the sidewalk that has the hand and footprints of many famous celebrities. You can also track down various recording studios and filming studios to see where some of your favorite movies may have been made or produced.
Once you have had your fill of Hollywood, you can head to Anaheim, home of Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. Disneyland has far more rides and things to do than California Adventure does, but DCA is an experience in itself, with Tower of Terror and the Bug’s Life play area. Disneyland has eight different areas for you to visit, each with themed rides and shops for you to experience. If you are a sports fan and are in the area during the right season, you can try catching tickets to an Angels (baseball) or Ducks (hockey) game to satisfy the needs of the sports buff in your family.
Another day trip from Los Angeles is San Diego. San Diego not only has beaches but they have Sea World, an animal park and the San Diego zoo. Sea World is a good place to go on a hot day. Go to the animal shows that they have (like the Shamu show and the dolphin show) and sit in the seats that say “Splash Zone.” By the time you leave the show you will be nice and cool.
